Core Customer Count Metrics Outcome

Churned Customers

Churned Customers: The number of customers lost in the period: customers whose last active subscription ended.

Formula

Churned Customers = Count of customers with a churn event in the period

Computable definition

The canonical formula in the GASP formula grammar. The MCP server compiles it to SQL over the datasets listed below.

count_distinct(field.customer_id where field.event_type = 'churn')

Unit: count

Breakdowns

  • by_segment: one row per segment value

Notes: Customers whose last active subscription ended in the period (a churn event). The numerator of Logo Churn Rate. by_segment returns one row per customer segment.

Data requirements

Grain: Per event, aggregate monthly · Frequency: Daily sync · Aggregation: aggregate (month) · Staged: no · Main source: Billing.

Field Dataset Type
customer_id revenue_event string
event_date revenue_event date
event_type revenue_event string
Example SQL (Postgres)
SELECT (SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT customer_id) FROM revenue_event WHERE event_date >= :period_start AND event_date <= :period_end AND event_type = 'churn') AS churned_customers

Access: recommended sensitivity tier confidential, access scope unscoped. Guidance your policy engine enforces.

From an agent: with the GASP MCP server, call lookup_metric({ "name": "Churned Customers" }) or generate_query({ "metric": "Churned Customers", "adapter": "<your adapter JSON>" }).

What It Tells You
