GASP

Project Duration Accuracy

Project Duration Accuracy: Actual duration vs estimated duration.

Formula

Duration Accuracy = Average of (Estimated duration / Actual duration) per project × 100

Computable definition

The canonical formula in the GASP formula grammar. The MCP server compiles it to SQL over the datasets listed below.

avg((field.target_date - field.project_start_date) / (field.project_completion_date - field.project_start_date) where in_period(field.project_completion_date))

Unit: percent (the formula yields an unscaled ratio)

Notes: Per-project estimated duration over actual duration, averaged over projects completed in the period, so each project weighs the same. Target is 90 to 110 percent.

Data requirements

Grain: Per event · Frequency: Per milestone · Aggregation: event · Staged: no · Main source: PSA.

Field Dataset Type
project_completion_date project date
project_start_date project date
snapshot_date project date
target_date project date
Example SQL (Postgres)
SELECT (SELECT AVG((CAST((target_date - project_start_date) AS DOUBLE PRECISION) / NULLIF((project_completion_date - project_start_date), 0))) FROM project WHERE snapshot_date = :period_end AND (project_completion_date >= :period_start AND project_completion_date <= :period_end)) AS project_duration_accuracy
