GASP

Bench Rate

Bench Rate: Percentage of team without billable assignment.

Formula

Bench Rate = Consultants without assignment / Total consultants × 100

Computable definition

The canonical formula in the GASP formula grammar. The MCP server compiles it to SQL over the datasets listed below.

count_distinct(field.consultant_id where field.project_id is null) / count_distinct(field.consultant_id)

Unit: percent (the formula yields an unscaled ratio)

Notes: Rows are consultant assignment records; a consultant with no project assignment is on the bench.

Data requirements

Grain: Weekly snapshot · Frequency: Weekly · Aggregation: snapshot (week) · Staged: no · Main source: PSA.

Field Dataset Type
consultant_id consultant string
consultant_id project string
period_start consultant date
project_id project string
snapshot_date project date
Example SQL (Postgres)
SELECT (CAST((SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT consultant_id) FROM project WHERE snapshot_date = :period_end AND project_id IS NULL) AS DOUBLE PRECISION) / NULLIF((SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT consultant_id) FROM consultant WHERE period_start >= :period_start AND period_start <= :period_end), 0)) AS bench_rate

From an agent: with the GASP MCP server, call lookup_metric({ "name": "Bench Rate" }) or generate_query({ "metric": "Bench Rate", "adapter": "<your adapter JSON>" }).
