Time to Feature Adoption

Time to Feature Adoption: Median time from signup to a user's first use of a specific feature, for users whose first use falls in the period.

Formula

Time to Adoption = Median of (First feature use date - Signup date)

Computable definition

The canonical formula in the GASP formula grammar. The MCP server compiles it to SQL over the datasets listed below.

median(field.first_use_date - field.signup_date where in_period(field.first_use_date))

Unit: days

Notes: Median days from a user's signup to their first use of the tracked feature, for users whose first use falls in the period. Both dates are on the user dataset (first_use_date is the first use of the feature).

Data requirements

Grain: Per event, aggregate monthly · Frequency: Daily · Aggregation: aggregate (month) · Staged: no · Main source: Product Analytics.

Field Dataset Type
first_use_date user date
signup_date user date
snapshot_date user date
Example SQL (Postgres)
SELECT (SELECT PERCENTILE_CONT(0.5) WITHIN GROUP (ORDER BY (first_use_date - signup_date)) FROM user WHERE snapshot_date = :period_end AND (first_use_date >= :period_start AND first_use_date <= :period_end)) AS time_to_feature_adoption

From an agent: with the GASP MCP server, call lookup_metric({ "name": "Time to Feature Adoption" }) or generate_query({ "metric": "Time to Feature Adoption", "adapter": "<your adapter JSON>" }).
