Source of Hire
Source of Hire: Where successful candidates came from.
Formula
Source share = Hires in period from the source / Total hires in period Computable definition
The canonical formula in the GASP formula grammar. The MCP server compiles it to SQL over the datasets listed below.
count_distinct(field.employee_id where in_period(field.hire_date)) / total(count_distinct(field.employee_id where in_period(field.hire_date))) Unit: percent (the formula yields an unscaled ratio)
Breakdowns
- Reported with one row per
hire_sourcevalue, each read against the whole population (share of total)
Notes: Reported per hire source: hires in the period through the source over all hires in the period, read on the period-end employee snapshot.

Example SQL (Postgres)
SELECT _d.hire_source AS hire_source, (CAST((SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT employee_id) FROM employee WHERE snapshot_date = :period_end AND (hire_date >= :period_start AND hire_date <= :period_end) AND hire_source = _d.hire_source) AS DOUBLE PRECISION) / NULLIF((SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT employee_id) FROM employee WHERE snapshot_date = :period_end AND (hire_date >= :period_start AND hire_date <= :period_end)), 0)) AS source_of_hire
FROM (SELECT 'referral' AS hire_source UNION ALL SELECT 'inbound' AS hire_source UNION ALL SELECT 'sourced' AS hire_source UNION ALL SELECT 'agency' AS hire_source UNION ALL SELECT 'internal' AS hire_source UNION ALL SELECT 'campus' AS hire_source UNION ALL SELECT 'other' AS hire_source) _d From an agent: with the GASP MCP server, call
lookup_metric({ "name": "Source of Hire" }) or generate_query({ "metric": "Source of Hire", "adapter": "<your adapter JSON>" }).
