Pay Equity Ratio

Pay Equity Ratio: Pay comparison across demographic groups for same role.

Formula

Pay Equity = Average pay (Group A) / Average pay (Group B)

Computable definition

The canonical formula in the GASP formula grammar. The MCP server compiles it to SQL over the datasets listed below.

avg(field.salary where field.underrepresented_group = true) / avg(field.salary where field.underrepresented_group = false)

Unit: ratio

Notes: Compare within the same role. Group A and group B are encoded as underrepresented and other groups. Target 0.98-1.02.

Data requirements

Grain: Annual snapshot · Frequency: Annual · Aggregation: snapshot (year) · Staged: no · Main source: HRIS.

Field Dataset Type
salary employee decimal
snapshot_date employee date
underrepresented_group employee boolean
Example SQL (Postgres)
SELECT (CAST((SELECT AVG(salary) FROM employee WHERE snapshot_date = :period_end AND underrepresented_group = TRUE) AS DOUBLE PRECISION) / NULLIF((SELECT AVG(salary) FROM employee WHERE snapshot_date = :period_end AND underrepresented_group = FALSE), 0)) AS pay_equity_ratio

From an agent: with the GASP MCP server, call lookup_metric({ "name": "Pay Equity Ratio" }) or generate_query({ "metric": "Pay Equity Ratio", "adapter": "<your adapter JSON>" }).
