Employee Turnover Rate: Percentage of employees who left in a period.
Formula
Turnover Rate = Employees departed / Average headcount × 100 Computable definition
The canonical formula in the GASP formula grammar. The MCP server compiles it to SQL over the datasets listed below.
count_distinct(field.employee_id where field.termination_date >= period_start and field.termination_date <= period_end) / ((metric.total_headcount at period_start + metric.total_headcount at period_end) / 2) Unit: percent (the formula yields an unscaled ratio)
Breakdowns
by_department: one row perdepartmentvalue
Notes: Calculate monthly or annually. Annualize for comparability. Average headcount is the mean of start and end headcount. by_department returns one row per department: leavers and both headcounts are counted within the department, so attrition concentrated in one team shows.
